#GINTAMA SEASON 1 GAP TV#
Is this the best TV comedy? Arguably yes. It IS better than rick and morty or Family Guy or One Punch Man. This installment of Gintama IS the best TV animated comedy anywhere in the world. Score: 10/10Įnjoyment: I thoroughly enjoyed this season granted it did fall short for me but I enjoyed it nonetheless. At the end of this season everybody learned something new about each other and some even helped open each others eyes whether intentional or unintentional. Characters we had mixed or bad feelings about ended up being characters we cried for. Our beloved yorozuya and shinsengumi are put in a situation where they openly rely on each other, character development skyrockets in this season. We begin to learn more about our 3 veteran warriors and why they act the way they do, their backgrounds, the hostility towards each other. Nothing unusual about the characters until the serious arcs kick in and I mean serious. Score: 9/10Ĭharacters: Ah, the reason why so many of us love this anime. Some of the tracks do feel out of place but I got used to it. Sound: Voice actors still sound superb and there's more variety to the soundtrack now. It wasn't too much to deter me from enjoying it but just enough to bug me. The animation felt odd and it just didn't feel like Gintama's style, granted that a new company is handling Gintama now and I did read the manga before this season came out but very powerful moments in the manga fell short in this season. My score: 10/10Īrt: I think this was my only real complaint this season, the animation in the beginning was amazing, didn't fall short of it's predecessors but somewhere in the middle it dipped for me. The one sad thing though is that they didn't cover some arcs which is disappointing but what can ya' do? Overall the story hasn't changed, there definitely is a shift in genre as the most serious arc in the manga is about to take place in the anime but don't worry the beloved humour we all adore is still sprinkled in there somewhere. Each arc builds and builds and builds until at some point it collapses and all hell breaks loose, which is what this season mostly covers. Other (especially Gintoki), showing the underlying tension in the lawless town. Showing the shenanigans everybody gets into while sprinkling a lot crude humour, and at times the serious situations they get into which ends in them learning more about each other, being more open with each Story: The show in itself is very episodic, while the yorozuya get most of the spotlight every now and then other supporting characters get a story of their own. I'll get right into 'cause this is my first time writing a review so yeah cut me some slack, alright? This season was one hell of a roller-coaster but boy was it worth it. So yeah, inconsistent comedy and animation is the only thing I could find wrong with this one, I didn't like the new art but that's just me, which leads me to give this an overall rating of 9/10. The anime reaches the point of no-turning back. It may take time to adjust to the new art but that is all.
#GINTAMA SEASON 1 GAP SERIES#
The storyline however, is the best the series has ever seen, with some new characters getting introduced too. Plus, there are like only about 30 comedy episodes, with the rest being story arcs. Or maybe it is just the new artstyle messing with my mind (.?) yeah maybe that is it. It is definitely hilarious, but not as much as before. This seasons starts off slow, and can be boring too but soon gets enjoyable. You also get several different versions of the same OP which is always loved. OST: Easily the best so far, in terms of OP/ED and in-episode soundtrack. It's as if they were cutting corners during casual scenes to save budget for story arcs. Action scenes are ever better than before, however. During zoomed out scenes it looks horrible if you notice it, during casual episodes that is. Characterĭesigns are slightly altered, and now male characters no longer look 'cute'. It's fine during action scenes, but for comedy sequences I would prefer the original art. Personally it does not sit well with me most of the time. The new glossy, cleaner but less detailed art may not be everyone's cup of tea however, especially if you prefer the old nostalgic look.

Also I want to keep it as short as possible.Īpparently this season brings a lot of changes to the anime adaptation of gintama, and not all of them are for the better.Īnimation: The animation has seen an unbelievable overhaul. Since this is a sequel, I'll treat it like one.
